The triliteral root wāw sīn ṭā (و س ط) occurs five times in the Quran, in four derived forms:

  • once as the form I verb wasaṭ (وَسَطْ)
  • twice as the noun awsaṭ (أَوْسَط)
  • once as the adjective wasaṭ (وَسَط)
  • once as the adjective wus'ṭā (وُسْطَىٰ)

Verb (form I) - to penetrate the center

(100:5:1) fawasaṭnaThen penetrate (in the) center فَوَسَطْنَ بِهِ جَمْعًا
