The triliteral root rā ṣād dāl (ر ص د) occurs six times in the Quran, in four derived forms:

  • twice as the nominal raṣad (رَصَد)
  • twice as the noun mir'ṣād (مِرْصَاد)
  • once as the noun marṣad (مَرْصَد)
  • once as the form IV verbal noun ir'ṣād (إِرْصَاد)

(72:9:13) raṣadanwaiting فَمَنْ يَسْتَمِعِ الْآنَ يَجِدْ لَهُ شِهَابًا رَصَدًا

(72:27:13) raṣadana guard فَإِنَّهُ يَسْلُكُ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِ رَصَدًا
