Quran Dictionary - ن ق ر


The triliteral root nūn qāf rā (ن ق ر) occurs four times in the Quran, in three derived forms:

  • once as the form I verb nuqira (نُقِرَ)
  • once as the noun nāqūr (نَّاقُور)
  • twice as the noun naqīr (نَقِير)

Verb (form I) - to blow

(74:8:2) nuqirais blown فَإِذَا نُقِرَ فِي النَّاقُورِ


(74:8:4) l-nāqūrithe trumpet فَإِذَا نُقِرَ فِي النَّاقُورِ


(4:53:10) naqīran(even as much as the) speck on a date seed أَمْ لَهُمْ نَصِيبٌ مِنَ الْمُلْكِ فَإِذًا لَا يُؤْتُونَ النَّاسَ نَقِيرًا
(4:124:16) naqīran(even as much as) the speck on a date-seed فَأُولَٰئِكَ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ نَقِيرًا
