The triliteral root nūn kāf thā (ن ك ث) occurs seven times in the Quran, in two derived forms:
- six times as the form I verb nakatha (نَّكَثَ)
- once as the noun ankāth (أَنكَٰث)

Verb (form I) - to break (oath)
(7:135:11) yankuthūna | broke (the word) | فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْزَ إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ هُمْ بَالِغُوهُ إِذَا هُمْ يَنْكُثُونَ |
(9:12:2) nakathū | they break | وَإِنْ نَكَثُوا أَيْمَانَهُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ عَهْدِهِمْ وَطَعَنُوا فِي دِينِكُمْ فَقَاتِلُوا أَئِمَّةَ الْكُفْرِ |
