The triliteral root lām bā sīn (ل ب س) occurs 23 times in the Quran, in four derived forms:

  • 11 times as the form I verb labas (لَبَسْ)
  • 10 times as the noun libās (لِبَاس)
  • once as the noun labs (لَبْس)
  • once as the noun labūs (لَبُوس)

Verb (form I) - to obscure, to confuse, to mix, to wear

(2:42:2) talbisūmix وَلَا تَلْبِسُوا الْحَقَّ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَتَكْتُمُوا الْحَقَّ وَأَنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
(3:71:4) talbisūnado you mix لِمَ تَلْبِسُونَ الْحَقَّ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَتَكْتُمُونَ الْحَقَّ وَأَنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
