The triliteral root bā ḍād ʿayn (ب ض ع) occurs seven times in the Quran, in two derived forms:

  • five times as the noun biḍāʿat (بِضَٰعَة)
  • twice as the noun biḍ'ʿ (بِضْع)

(12:19:12) biḍāʿatan(as) a merchandise قَالَ يَا بُشْرَىٰ هَٰذَا غُلَامٌ وَأَسَرُّوهُ بِضَاعَةً
(12:62:4) biḍāʿatahumtheir merchandise وَقَالَ لِفِتْيَانِهِ اجْعَلُوا بِضَاعَتَهُمْ فِي رِحَالِهِمْ
