Quran Dictionary - ز و ر

The triliteral root zāy wāw rā (ز و ر) occurs six times in the Quran, in three derived forms:

  • once as the form I verb zur (زُرْ)
  • once as the form VI verb tazāwaru (تَّزَٰوَرُ)
  • four times as the noun zūr (زُّور)

Verb (form I) - to visit

(102:2:2) zur'tumuyou visit حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ الْمَقَابِرَ

(18:17:5) tazāwaruinclining away وَتَرَى الشَّمْسَ إِذَا طَلَعَتْ تَزَاوَرُ عَنْ كَهْفِهِمْ ذَاتَ الْيَمِينِ
