Quran Dictionary - غ ر م


The triliteral root ghayn rā mīm (غ ر م) occurs six times in the Quran, in four derived forms:

  • once as the noun gharām (غَرَام)
  • three times as the noun maghram (مَّغْرَم)
  • once as the active participle ghārimīn (غَٰرِمِين)
  • once as the form IV passive participle mugh'ramūn (مُغْرَمُون)

(25:65:11) gharāmaninseparable رَبَّنَا اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَ إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا


(9:98:7) maghraman(as) a loss وَمِنَ الْأَعْرَابِ مَنْ يَتَّخِذُ مَا يُنْفِقُ مَغْرَمًا
(52:40:6) maghramina debt أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُمْ مِنْ مَغْرَمٍ مُثْقَلُونَ
(68:46:6) maghramin(the) debt أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُمْ مِنْ مَغْرَمٍ مُثْقَلُونَ
