Quran Dictionary - ح ف ر


The triliteral root ḥā fā rā (ح ف ر) occurs twice in the Quran, in two derived forms:

  • once as the noun ḥāfirat (حَافِرَة)
  • once as the noun ḥuf'rat (حُفْرَة)

(3:103:23) ḥuf'ratin(of) pit وَكُنْتُمْ عَلَىٰ شَفَا حُفْرَةٍ مِنَ النَّارِ فَأَنْقَذَكُمْ مِنْهَا
