The triliteral root ʿayn ṣād fā (ع ص ف) occurs seven times in the Quran, in five derived forms:

  • once as the noun ʿāṣifat (عَاصِفَة)
  • twice as the noun ʿaṣf (عَصْف)
  • once as the verbal noun ʿaṣf (عَصْف)
  • twice as the active participle ʿāṣif (عَاصِف)
  • once as the active participle ʿāṣifāt (عَٰصِفَٰت)
