Quran Dictionary - ن س خ

The triliteral root nūn sīn khā (ن س خ) occurs four times in the Quran, in three derived forms:

  • twice as the form I verb yansakhu (يَنسَخُ)
  • once as the form X verb nastansikhu (نَسْتَنسِخُ)
  • once as the noun nus'khat (نُسْخَت)

Verb (form I) - to abolish, to abrogate

(2:106:2) nansakhWe abrogate مَا نَنْسَخْ مِنْ آيَةٍ أَوْ نُنْسِهَا نَأْتِ بِخَيْرٍ مِنْهَا أَوْ مِثْلِهَا
(22:52:16) fayansakhuBut Allah abolishes فَيَنْسَخُ اللَّهُ مَا يُلْقِي الشَّيْطَانُ ثُمَّ يُحْكِمُ اللَّهُ آيَاتِهِ

Verb (form X) - to transcribe

(45:29:8) nastansikhutranscribe إِنَّا كُنَّا نَسْتَنْسِخُ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

(7:154:9) nus'khatihātheir inscription وَفِي نُسْخَتِهَا هُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِرَبِّهِمْ يَرْهَبُونَ
