The triliteral root bā yā ḍād (ب ي ض) occurs 12 times in the Quran, in three derived forms:

  • three times as the form IX verb ib'yaḍḍat (ٱبْيَضَّتْ)
  • eight times as the nominal abyaḍ (أَبْيَض)
  • once as the noun bayḍ (بَيْض)

(3:106:2) tabyaḍḍuwould become white يَوْمَ تَبْيَضُّ وُجُوهٌ وَتَسْوَدُّ وُجُوهٌ
(3:107:3) ib'yaḍḍatturn white وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ ابْيَضَّتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ فَفِي رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ
