Sahih International: And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muhammad], among the sects of the former peoples.

Pickthall: We verily sent (messengers) before thee among the factions of the men of old.

Yusuf Ali: We did send messengers before thee amongst the religious sects of old:

Shakir: And certainly We sent (messengers) before you among the nations of yore.

Muhammad Sarwar: We sent Messengers to the ancient people who lived before you.

Mohsin Khan: Indeed, We sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad SAW) amongst the sects (communities) of old.
