Chapter (15) sūrat l-ḥij'r (The Rocky Tract)

Sahih International: And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud.

Pickthall: And (remember) when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am creating a mortal out of potter's clay of black mud altered,

Yusuf Ali: Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape;

Shakir: And when your Lord said to the angels: Surely I am going to create a mortal of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape.

Muhammad Sarwar: When your Lord said to the angels, "I will create the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay.

Mohsin Khan: And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud.
