Verse (8:54), Word 12 - Quranic Grammar

The twelfth word of verse (8:54) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The form IV perfect verb (فعل ماض) is first person plural. The verb's triliteral root is ghayn rā qāf (غ ر ق). The suffix (نا) is an attached subject pronoun.

Sahih International: [Theirs is] like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and of those before them. They denied the signs of their Lord, so We destroyed them for their sins, and We drowned the people of Pharaoh. And all [of them] were wrongdoers.
