Verse (8:58), Word 1 - Quranic Grammar


The first word of verse (8:58) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, conditional particle and supplemental particle. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events.

Sahih International: If you [have reason to] fear from a people betrayal, throw [their treaty] back to them, [putting you] on equal terms. Indeed, Allah does not like traitors.
