Verse (4:73), Word 14 - Quranic Grammar

The fourteenth word of verse (4:73) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A verb and subject pronoun. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is first person singular. The verb's triliteral root is kāf wāw nūn (ك و ن). The verb (كان) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها). The suffix (التاء) is an attached subject pronoun.

Sahih International: But if bounty comes to you from Allah , he will surely say, as if there had never been between you and him any affection. "Oh, I wish I had been with them so I could have attained a great attainment."
