Verse (4:161), Word 10 - Quranic Grammar

The tenth word of verse (4:161) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, verb and subject pronoun. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The form IV perfect verb (فعل ماض) is first person plural. The verb's triliteral root is ʿayn tā dāl (ع ت د). The suffix (نا) is an attached subject pronoun.

Sahih International: And [for] their taking of usury while they had been forbidden from it, and their consuming of the people's wealth unjustly. And we have prepared for the disbelievers among them a painful punishment.
