Verse (26:49), Word 13 - Quranic Grammar


The thirteenth word of verse (26:49) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, emphatic prefix and future particle. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis.

Sahih International: [Pharaoh] said, "You believed Moses before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all."
