Verse (20:131), Word 13 - Quranic Grammar

The thirteenth word of verse (20:131) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A particle of purpose, verb and object pronoun. The prefixed particle lām is used to indicate the purpose of an action and makes the following verb subjunctive. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is first person plural and is in the subjunctive mood (منصوب). The verb's triliteral root is fā tā nūn (ف ت ن). The attached object pronoun is third person masculine plural.

Verse (20:131)

Sahih International: And do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [some] categories of them, [its being but] the splendor of worldly life by which We test them. And the provision of your Lord is better and more enduring.
