Sahih International: Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained

Pickthall: Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds;

Yusuf Ali: Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds.

Shakir: Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns,

Muhammad Sarwar: Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds

Mohsin Khan: Every person is a pledge for what he has earned,

Arberry: Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned,
