Verse (52:16) - English Translation

Chapter (52) sūrat l-ṭūr (The Mount)

Sahih International: [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do."

Pickthall: Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do.

Yusuf Ali: "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds."

Shakir: Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did.

Muhammad Sarwar: Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds".

Mohsin Khan: Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do.

Arberry: Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.'
