Chapter (15) sūrat l-ḥij'r (The Rocky Tract)

Sahih International: And We have sent the fertilizing winds and sent down water from the sky and given you drink from it. And you are not its retainers.

Pickthall: And We send the winds fertilising, and cause water to descend from the sky, and give it you to drink. It is not ye who are the holders of the store thereof.

Yusuf Ali: And We send the fecundating winds, then cause the rain to descend from the sky, therewith providing you with water (in abundance), though ye are not the guardians of its stores.

Shakir: And We send the winds fertilizing, then send down water from the cloud so We give it to you to drink of, nor is it you who store it up.

Muhammad Sarwar: We send impregnating winds and send down water from the sky for you to drink and you have no (control over its) storage.

Mohsin Khan: And We send the winds fertilizing (to fill heavily the clouds with water), then caused the water (rain) to descend from the sky, and We gave it to you to drink, and it is not you who are the owners of its stores [i.e. to give water to whom you like or to withhold it from whom you like].

Arberry: And We loose the winds fertilising, and We send down out of heaven water, then We give it to you to drink, and you are not its treasurers.
