Quran Dictionary - و ه ن

The triliteral root wāw hā nūn (و ه ن) occurs nine times in the Quran, in four derived forms:

  • five times as the form I verb wahana (وَهَنَ)
  • once as the noun awhan (أَوْهَن)
  • twice as the noun wahn (وَهْن)
  • once as the form IV active participle mūhin (مُوهِن)

Verb (form I) - to weaken

(3:139:2) tahinūweaken وَلَا تَهِنُوا وَلَا تَحْزَنُوا وَأَنْتُمُ الْأَعْلَوْنَ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ
(3:146:9) wahanūthey lost heart فَمَا وَهَنُوا لِمَا أَصَابَهُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ
(4:104:2) tahinūbe weak وَلَا تَهِنُوا فِي ابْتِغَاءِ الْقَوْمِ إِنْ تَكُونُوا تَأْلَمُونَ فَإِنَّهُمْ يَأْلَمُونَ
(19:4:4) wahana(have) weakened قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي وَهَنَ الْعَظْمُ مِنِّي وَاشْتَعَلَ الرَّأْسُ شَيْبًا
(47:35:2) tahinūweaken فَلَا تَهِنُوا وَتَدْعُوا إِلَى السَّلْمِ وَأَنْتُمُ الْأَعْلَوْنَ
