The triliteral root wāw lām jīm (و ل ج) occurs 14 times in the Quran, in three derived forms:

  • three times as the form I verb yalija (يَلِجَ)
  • 10 times as the form IV verb yūliju (يُولِجُ)
  • once as the noun walījat (وَلِيجَة)

Verb (form I) - to penetrate, to pass

(7:40:16) yalijapasses وَلَا يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ حَتَّىٰ يَلِجَ الْجَمَلُ فِي سَمِّ الْخِيَاطِ
(34:2:3) yalijupenetrates يَعْلَمُ مَا يَلِجُ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَمَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا
