The triliteral root dāl ʿayn ʿayn (د ع ع) occurs three times in the Quran, in two derived forms:

  • twice as the form I verb yaduʿʿu (يَدُعُّ)
  • once as the verbal noun daʿʿ (دَعّ)

(52:13:2) yudaʿʿūnathey will be thrust يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا
(107:2:3) yaduʿʿurepulses فَذَٰلِكَ الَّذِي يَدُعُّ الْيَتِيمَ

Verbal noun

(52:13:6) daʿʿan(with) a thrust يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا
