Verse (63:8), Word 13 - Quranic Grammar

The thirteenth word of verse (63:8) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, preposition and active participle. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The prefixed preposition lām is usually translated as "for". The form IV active participle is masculine plural and is in the genitive case (مجرور). The active participle's triliteral root is hamza mīm nūn (أ م ن). Together the segments form a preposition phrase known as jār wa majrūr (جار ومجرور).

Verse (63:8)

The analysis above refers to the eighth verse of chapter 63 (sūrat l-munāfiqūn):

Sahih International: They say, "If we return to al-Madinah, the more honored [for power] will surely expel therefrom the more humble." And to Allah belongs [all] honor, and to His Messenger, and to the believers, but the hypocrites do not know.
