Verse (63:1), Word 17 - Quranic Grammar

The seventeenth word of verse (63:1) is divided into 2 morphological segments. An emphatic prefix and active participle. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis. The active participle is masculine plural and is in the nominative case (مرفوع). Sahih International: When the hypocrites come to you, [O Muhammad], they say, "We testify that you are the Messenger of Allah." And Allah knows that you are His Messenger, and Allah testifies that the hypocrites are liars.
