Chapter (33) sūrat l-aḥzāb (The Combined Forces)

Sahih International: And they will say, "Our Lord, indeed we obeyed our masters and our dignitaries, and they led us astray from the [right] way.

Pickthall: And they say: Our Lord! Lo! we obeyed our princes and great men, and they misled us from the Way.

Yusuf Ali: And they would say: "Our Lord! We obeyed our chiefs and our great ones, and they misled us as to the (right) Path.

Shakir: And they shall say: O our Lord! surely we obeyed our leaders and our great men, so they led us astray from the path;

Muhammad Sarwar: They will say, "Lord, we obeyed our chiefs and elders and they caused us to go astray.

Mohsin Khan: And they will say: "Our Lord! Verily, we obeyed our chiefs and our great ones, and they misled us from the (Right) Way.

Arberry: They shall say, 'Our Lord, we obeyed our chiefs and great ones, and they led us astray from the way.
