The triliteral root ghayn wāw thā (غ و ث) occurs five times in the Quran, in two derived forms:

  • once as the form IV verb yughāthu (يُغَاثُ)
  • four times as the form X verb is'taghātha (ٱسْتَغَٰثَ)

Verb (form IV) - to be relieved

(18:29:20) yughāthūthey will be relieved وَإِنْ يَسْتَغِيثُوا يُغَاثُوا بِمَاءٍ كَالْمُهْلِ يَشْوِي الْوُجُوهَ

Verb (form X) - to seek help

(8:9:2) tastaghīthūnayou were seeking help إِذْ تَسْتَغِيثُونَ رَبَّكُمْ فَاسْتَجَابَ لَكُمْ
(18:29:19) yastaghīthūthey call for relief وَإِنْ يَسْتَغِيثُوا يُغَاثُوا بِمَاءٍ كَالْمُهْلِ يَشْوِي الْوُجُوهَ
