Verse (40:50), Word 3 - Quranic Grammar

The third word of verse (40:50) is an imperfect verb (فعل مضارع). The verb is third person feminine singular and is in the jussive mood (مجزوم). The verb's triliteral root is kāf wāw nūn (ك و ن). The verb (تك) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها).

Sahih International: They will say, "Did there not come to you your messengers with clear proofs?" They will say, "Yes." They will reply, "Then supplicate [yourselves], but the supplication of the disbelievers is not except in error."
