Verse (2:167), Word 1 - Quranic Grammar

The first word of verse (2:167) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A resumption particle and verb. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine singular. Verse (2:167)

The analysis above refers to the 167th verse of chapter 2 (sūrat l-baqarah):

Sahih International: Those who followed will say, "If only we had another turn [at worldly life] so we could disassociate ourselves from them as they have disassociated themselves from us." Thus will Allah show them their deeds as regrets upon them. And they are never to emerge from the Fire.
