Verse (61:5), Word 5 - Quranic Grammar

The fifth word of verse (61:5) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A vocative particle, noun and possessive pronoun. The noun is masculine and is in the accusative case (منصوب). The noun's triliteral root is qāf wāw mīm (ق و م). The of the first person singular possessive pronoun has been omitted due to elision (الياء محذوفة), and is indicated by the kasrah.

Verse (61:5)

The analysis above refers to the fifth verse of chapter 61 (sūrat l-ṣaf):

Sahih International: And [mention, O Muhammad], when Moses said to his people, "O my people, why do you harm me while you certainly know that I am the messenger of Allah to you?" And when they deviated, Allah caused their hearts to deviate. And Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.
