The triliteral root khā ṭā bā (خ ط ب) occurs 12 times in the Quran, in four derived forms:

  • three times as the form III verb khāṭaba (خَاطَبَ)
  • three times as the noun khiṭāb (خِطَاب)
  • five times as the noun khaṭb (خَطْب)
  • once as the noun khiṭ'bat (خِطْبَة)
