Verse (4:157), Word 17 - Quranic Grammar

The seventeenth word of verse (4:157) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A resumption particle and accusative particle. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The accusative particle belongs to a special group of words known as inna and her sisters (ان واخواتها).

Verse (4:157)

The analysis above refers to the 157th verse of chapter 4 (sūrat l-nisāa):

Sahih International: And [for] their saying, "Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah." And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain.
