Verse (3:186), Word 5 - Quranic Grammar

The fifth word of verse (3:186) is divided into 4 morphological segments. A conjunction, emphatic prefix, verb and emphatic suffix. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is second person masculine plural and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is sīn mīm ʿayn (س م ع). The suffixed emphatic particle is known as the nūn of emphasis (نون التوكيد).

Verse (3:186)

Sahih International: You will surely be tested in your possessions and in yourselves. And you will surely hear from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who associate others with Allah much abuse. But if you are patient and fear Allah - indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of determination.
