Verse (2:189), Word 16 - Quranic Grammar

The sixteenth word of verse (2:189) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A resumption particle and accusative particle. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The accusative particle belongs to a special group of words known as inna and her sisters (ان واخواتها).

Verse (2:189)

The analysis above refers to the 189th verse of chapter 2 (sūrat l-baqarah):

Sahih International: They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the new moons. Say, "They are measurements of time for the people and for Hajj." And it is not righteousness to enter houses from the back, but righteousness is [in] one who fears Allah. And enter houses from their doors. And fear Allah that you may succeed.
