Verse (10:27), Word 6 - Quranic Grammar

The sixth word of verse (10:27) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A preposition, noun and possessive pronoun. The prefixed preposition bi is usually translated as "with" or "by". The noun is masculine and is in the genitive case (مجرور). The noun's triliteral root is mīm thā lām (م ث ل). The attached possessive pronoun is third person feminine singular. Together the segments form a preposition phrase known as jār wa majrūr (جار ومجرور).

The analysis above refers to the 27th verse of chapter 10 (sūrat yūnus):

Sahih International: But they who have earned [blame for] evil doings - the recompense of an evil deed is its equivalent, and humiliation will cover them. They will have from Allah no protector. It will be as if their faces are covered with pieces of the night - so dark [are they]. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally.
