Verse (7:26), Word 2 - Quranic Grammar

__

The second word of verse (7:26) is a masculine proper noun and is in the genitive case (مجرور). The case marker is a fatḥah instead of a kasrah because the proper noun is a diptote (ممنوع من الصرف).

Chapter (7) sūrat l-aʿrāf (The Heights)

(7:26:2)
ādama
(of) Adam!
PN – genitive masculine proper noun → Adam اسم علم مجرور بالفتحة بدلاً من الكسرة لأنه ممنوع من الصرف

Verse (7:26)

The analysis above refers to the 26th verse of chapter 7 (sūrat l-aʿrāf):

Sahih International: O children of Adam, We have bestowed upon you clothing to conceal your private parts and as adornment. But the clothing of righteousness - that is best. That is from the signs of Allah that perhaps they will remember.
