Verse (5:107), Word 17 - Quranic Grammar

The seventeenth word of verse (5:107) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An emphatic prefix, noun and possessive pronoun. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis. The noun is feminine and is in the nominative case (مرفوع). The noun's triliteral root is shīn hā dāl (ش ه د). The attached possessive pronoun is first person plural.

Verse (5:107)

The analysis above refers to the 107th verse of chapter 5 (sūrat l-māidah):

Sahih International: But if it is found that those two were guilty of perjury, let two others stand in their place [who are] foremost [in claim] from those who have a lawful right. And let them swear by Allah , "Our testimony is truer than their testimony, and we have not transgressed. Indeed, we would then be of the wrongdoers."
