Verse (56:2), Word 1 - Quranic Grammar


The first word of verse (56:2) is a perfect verb (فعل ماض). The verb is third person masculine singular. The verb's triliteral root is lām yā sīn (ل ي س). The verb (ليس) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها).
