Verse (2:222), Word 17 - Quranic Grammar

The seventeenth word of verse (2:222) is divided into 4 morphological segments. A result particle, verb, subject pronoun and object pronoun. The result particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate the result of a condition. The imperative verb (فعل أمر) is second person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is hamza tā yā (أ ت ي). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun. The attached object pronoun is third person feminine plural.

Verse (2:222)

The analysis above refers to the 222nd verse of chapter 2 (sūrat l-baqarah):

Sahih International: And they ask you about menstruation. Say, "It is harm, so keep away from wives during menstruation. And do not approach them until they are pure. And when they have purified themselves, then come to them from where Allah has ordained for you. Indeed, Allah loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those who purify themselves."
