Verse (11:84), Word 6 - Quranic Grammar


The sixth word of verse (11:84) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A vocative particle, noun and possessive pronoun. The noun is masculine and is in the nominative case (مرفوع). The noun's triliteral root is qāf wāw mīm (ق و م). The of the first person singular possessive pronoun has been omitted due to elision (الياء محذوفة), and is indicated by the kasrah.

Sahih International: And to Madyan [We sent] their brother Shu'ayb. He said, "O my people, worship Allah ; you have no deity other than Him. And do not decrease from the measure and the scale. Indeed, I see you in prosperity, but indeed, I fear for you the punishment of an all-encompassing Day.
