Verse (9:96), Word 3 - Quranic Grammar

The third word of verse (9:96) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A particle of purpose, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed particle lām is used to indicate the purpose of an action and makes the following verb subjunctive. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is second person masculine plural and is in the subjunctive mood (منصوب). The verb's triliteral root is rā ḍād wāw (ر ض و). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Sahih International: They swear to you so that you might be satisfied with them. But if you should be satisfied with them - indeed, Allah is not satisfied with a defiantly disobedient people.
