Verse (9:5), Word 8 - Quranic Grammar

The eighth word of verse (9:5) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A verb, subject pronoun and object pronoun. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is second person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is wāw jīm dāl (و ج د). The suffix (التاء) is an attached subject pronoun. The attached object pronoun is third person masculine plural.

Sahih International: And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
