Verse (9:5), Word 15 - Quranic Grammar

The fifteenth word of verse (9:5) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A resumption particle and conditional particle. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events.

Verse (9:5)

The analysis above refers to the fifth verse of chapter 9 (sūrat l-tawbah):

Sahih International: And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
