Verse (9:55), Word 1 - Quranic Grammar

The first word of verse (9:55) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A resumption particle and prohibition particle. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The prohibition particle (حرف نهي) is used to form a negative imperative and places the following verb into the jussive mood (مجزوم).

Sahih International: So let not their wealth or their children impress you. Allah only intends to punish them through them in worldly life and that their souls should depart [at death] while they are disbelievers.
