Verse (9:3), Word 4 - Quranic Grammar

The fourth word of verse (9:3) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, noun and possessive pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The noun is masculine and is in the genitive case (مجرور). The noun's triliteral root is rā sīn lām (ر س ل). The attached possessive pronoun is third person masculine singular.

Verse (9:3)

The analysis above refers to the third verse of chapter 9 (sūrat l-tawbah):

Sahih International: And [it is] an announcement from Allah and His Messenger to the people on the day of the greater pilgrimage that Allah is disassociated from the disbelievers, and [so is] His Messenger. So if you repent, that is best for you; but if you turn away - then know that you will not cause failure to Allah. And give tidings to those who disbelieve of a painful punishment.
