Verse (9:13), Word 13 - Quranic Grammar

The thirteenth word of verse (9:13) is divided into 4 morphological segments. An interrogative alif, verb, subject pronoun and object pronoun. The prefixed alif is an interrogative particle used to form a question and is usually translated as "is", "are", or "do". The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is second person masculine plural and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is khā shīn yā (خ ش ي). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun. The attached object pronoun is third person masculine plural.

Verse (9:13)

The analysis above refers to the thirteenth verse of chapter 9 (sūrat l-tawbah):

Sahih International: Would you not fight a people who broke their oaths and determined to expel the Messenger, and they had begun [the attack upon] you the first time? Do you fear them? But Allah has more right that you should fear Him, if you are [truly] believers.
