Verse (8:39), Word 1 - Quranic Grammar

The first word of verse (8:39) is divided into 4 morphological segments. A resumption particle, verb, subject pronoun and object pronoun. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The form III imperative verb (فعل أمر) is second person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is qāf tā lām (ق ت ل). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun. The attached object pronoun is third person masculine plural.

Verse (8:39)

The analysis above refers to the 39th verse of chapter 8 (sūrat l-anfāl):

Sahih International: And fight them until there is no fitnah and [until] the religion, all of it, is for Allah. And if they cease - then indeed, Allah is Seeing of what they do.
